A live webcast, “Can Companies Keep Up With Customers?,” will take place Wednesday, April 27, at 12:30 EDT.

Sponsored by IBM, it will feature MIT Sloan’s Andrew McAfee and Robin Carey, CEO of the online community Social Media Today.

It also will feature three folks from IBM: Ragna Bell of the IBM Institute for Business Value, and Saul Berman and Paul Papas of IBM Global Business Services.

The topic is one close to MIT SMR‘s heart: How companies are trying to keep pace with both digital technology and the way it’s being adapted by their connected customers.

An April 2011 report by the IBM Institute for Business Value, Digital Transformation: Creating new business models where digital meets physical [PDF], is a new addition to the growing literature looking at how companies can best respond to customer expectations around digital competency.

As the intro notes: “Customers are always connected, and companies can interact with them at any time. The implications cannot be overstated.”

Our own report produced in collaboration with the IBM Institute for Business Value, Analytics: The New Path to Value, was released in Fall 2010.

Looking forward to the webcast, but I struggle with the lingo used in these things - my eyes glaze over with terms like "value driven", "methodology", and things like that. Sometimes feel like I'm in a Dilbert comic, which isn't a good thing...
