We conducted case research of 20 large companies in North America and Europe across different industries to discover the effects of new information technologies (NIT) in transforming industries and value chains. Participants included Alstom, Amazon.com Inc., AutoNation Inc., Boo.com, Cemex, Chemdex, Dell Computer Corp., Eastman Chemical Co., easyJet Airline Co., FedEx Corp., Google, Lafarge, Levi Strauss & Co., Oracle Corp., Polaroid Corp., Ryanair, Schneider Electric, Tesco, Thomson and Toys “R” Us.
