Troubleshooting PDF Downloads

MIT Sloan Management Review often delivers content — research reports, article downloads and store purchases — as a link to a Portable Document Format (PDF) file hosted on a server.

When you access a link to a PDF using a web browser (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari), the file should either appear in the browser window or start downloading to a specific location on your computer or device, depending on your settings.

If you receive an error message when you try to download a PDF from the MIT SMR site or email, or if your browser is hanging or displaying a white screen, follow these tips:

Open the link in a different browser. If the PDF is not opening in your browser of choice, paste the link into a new browser and try again.

Save the file to your local machine. Even if the file is being displayed as blank screen, you may still be able to download the correct file. Try hovering your mouse over the blank document — if a toolbar appears, you may have the option to save the file onto your computer. You can then open and access the file with a PDF Reader*.
