How much can we expect business to lead on sustainability? What should be a company’s biggest priority: serving its shareholders, providing jobs, or addressing the health of our planet?

Often, these goals are at odds. Yet as governments fail to adequately address climate change, if business doesn’t take the lead, who will? It’s a complicated topic with many strong points of view. So, we brought together two leading voices in the sustainability debate to wrestle with these critical questions.

MIT’s Yossi Sheffi and author Andrew Winston met on MIT’s campus on Nov. 1, 2018 to debate businesses’ role in saving the planet. The conversation was moderated by MIT SMR editor in chief Paul Michelman. The conversation was live-streamed across the world and is available to stream on-demand now.
