Statement Response
General-purpose AI producers (e.g., companies like DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic) can be held accountable for how their products are developed. Disagree “I interpret the question as “Do I trust GPAI producers today?” Not completely. They should be held accountable for data privacy, responsible practice, etc. Given the lawsuits OpenAI is facing and the questionable practices behind DeepSeek, I can’t say I trust them completely yet. Just like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s role is to guard food and drug safety, we need a global organization to oversee these companies.

It is important to responsibly implement AI and work as a tech community to understand its limitations/address concerns at each stage of its maturity. While laws in this space are still developing, Expedia Group (EG) is anticipating what regulation will be coming to futureproof ourselves, and it is designing, developing, and deploying AI responsibly, with a “do no harm” mindset. At EG, we have an executive-level responsible AI council driving ethical, privacy, safety, decision-making, and accountability around the AI/GenAI we deploy or utilize. EG’s responsible AI working group actively monitors legislation in this space globally and then assesses AI models we’ve built internally, or external solutions. We’re committed to the privacy, confidentiality, and security of personal information entrusted to Expedia.”
